The annual, in-country renewal of permission to stay for retirees aged 50 and over who hold a Non-Immigrant O visa. Renewed each year at a Thai immigration office.

Duration

Grants a further 12 months’ permission to stay; renewed annually.

Extensions

Renewable each year while you continue to meet the financial and other conditions.

Financial requirement

Either 800,000 THB held in a Thai bank account (seasoned ~2 months before and 3 months after), OR a monthly income of 65,000 THB, OR a combination totalling 800,000 THB/year (as of 2026-05-24 — verify; seasoning rules are enforced strictly).

Fees

Extension fee 1,900 THB. A re-entry permit (1,000 THB single / 3,800 THB multiple) is needed to keep the extension valid if you leave Thailand.

Usually issued same-day or with a short under-consideration period at the immigration office.
