Premium & long-term residence
Thailand Privilege Visa (formerly Thailand Elite)วีซ่า Thailand Privilege (เดิมชื่อ Thailand Elite)
A paid long-stay membership run by Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. (a state enterprise under the Tourism Authority of Thailand). A one-time fee buys a Privilege Entry (PE) visa valid for 5–20 years depending on tier, with multiple-entry rights, airport VIP/fast-track, and a tier-based annual Privilege Points allowance. It does not confer the right to work and is not a path to permanent residency or citizenship.
- Duration
- Membership validity is tied to tier: 5 years (Bronze, Gold), 10 years (Platinum), 15 years (Diamond), 20 years (Reserve, invitation-only).
- Extensions
- No annual renewal cost within the membership term. The PE visa is stamped for an initial period and renewed within the term through Immigration; members re-enter freely (multiple-entry).
- Financial requirement
- The one-time membership fee is the financial requirement — there is no separate bank-balance or income test, and no annual renewal charge.
- Fees
- One-time membership fee per tier: Bronze 650,000 THB, Gold 900,000 THB, Platinum 1,500,000 THB, Diamond 2,500,000 THB, Reserve 5,000,000 THB. No annual renewal fee. Any agent service fees are separate.
- Processing time
- Background check + membership issuance typically takes a few weeks (commonly cited as ~1 month from application to approval/payment). The exact 2026 timeframe is unconfirmed — confirm with Thailand Privilege.
Who it’s for
- Long-stay residents, retirees, remote earners and frequent visitors who want a multi-year stay without annual extensions
- People who do not meet (or want to avoid) the retirement/marriage/work eligibility tests
- People who value airport fast-track, concierge support and lifestyle benefits
- Not for those who need to work in Thailand (no work authorisation)
Key documents
- Valid passport (and a multiple-passport-holder declaration if applicable)
- Application form and recent photo
- PDPA consent pack (Thailand Privilege data-protection consent), signed in wet ink
- Payment of the membership fee after background-check approval
Staying compliant
- 90-day reporting applies to members staying 90+ consecutive days
- TM.30 address notification on each arrival/move
- A separate re-entry permit is not needed — the PE visa is multiple-entry
- No work permitted on the Privilege visa alone
Recent changes
- Rebrand: “Thailand Elite” → “Thailand Privilege” (2023); the old pre-October-2023 tier structure (including Silver) is discontinued — there is NO Silver tier in the current programme.
- Bronze tier introduced as a lower entry point (December 2024); promotional pricing is reported as extended to 30 September 2026 — confirm current availability with Thailand Privilege before relying on it.
- A tier-based annual Privilege Points system is the 2026 model, redeemable for airport transfers, lounges, wellness, dining and (Diamond/Reserve) domestic flights.
Common pitfalls
- Assuming it grants the right to work — it does not
- Background-check failure: prior overstay, deportation, blacklist, or serious criminal record
- Expecting “Silver” or other legacy tiers — they no longer exist; the current set is Bronze/Gold/Platinum/Diamond/Reserve
- Confusing membership validity (5–20 yrs) with the permitted-stay-per-entry stamp, which is renewed within the term
- Treating promotional Bronze pricing as permanent — confirm current availability first
Membership tiers
A one-time fee, with no annual renewal cost. The current (2026) line-up is Bronze, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Reserve — there is no Silver tier (it was part of the discontinued pre-October-2023 Thailand Elite structure).
